What To Do, REALLY !?

We all do have an idea about today’s burning environmental issues, now is the time of action! Here’s how you can do your bit easily yet efficiently. The bottom line is, don’t blow it – good planets are hard to find!

1. Reduce, recycle, reuse

The most prominent tagline of today’s global environment movement, this triad points towards the basic idea of conservation. Reduce, refers to a cut in the excess use of materials, say plastic or glass, then recycling the used object, and finally reusing the product optimally again. This brings down the level of landfill and levels of energy required for newer products. Come; join the ‘R’ process!

2. Stop energy exploitation

When reference to “vampire power” is made, it doesn’t mean the hypnotic power of some black-caped, white-fanged devil but rather the STAND-BY mode of your home appliances that sucks out a lot of electricity from your power grid. So much so, that it amounts to a heavy 200-400 terawatts per year.

3. Save that bite and hold that drop

Food and water conservation is a burning issue today. And it is simple! Head start by not leaving eatables all the time, corresponding hunger and amount of food. For the water part, shorten your shower time; turn off the tap while brushing your teeth and fix faulty faucets for a greener globe!

4. Participate in Global Cooling

Indulge in eco-friendly methods like car pools and use of public transport. Also try turning that endless sun into solar power instead of complaining! This will reduce the level of green house gases, and hence cool the earth.

5. Go green, go social

If you are addicted to social networking online, it’s probably time you took that leap from the web to the ground! A concept like ‘Forest Facebook’ can be idealized wherein one can meet and work with friends on the improving our environment. This way, leisure can be mixed with fruitful activism!

I tried but failed to convince my family to participate in the Earth Hour. I won’t stop. :(

Good planets..? Even another planet remotely favourable to our survival has not been found. This one is going to the dogs. I can imagine myself at 60 with an oxygen tank on my age crippled back… cause there’s no fresh air to breathe… eating some tiny tablet that keeps me hydrated and reduces the urge to drink water… well… cause there’s no potable water as well. The day is not far. It’s time to start.

    And yes… welcome back.

Yes, that does seem to be the spirit! You know, we tend to sideline these issues because apparently these are the ones belonging to a larger periphery, and till we are comfortable, we like to be cocooned, and not consider ourselves a part of this periphery. I went to this film fest on The World Environment Day, and came to know about ideas which we can implement and change this planet for the better. I’ll put that up soon.
And the way you imagine Earth, I’m afraid it touches a lot of reality. It is indeed, time to start. And the situation is so grim, that you can’t keep on suppressing or not talk about the issue because you are wary of how many people would join it. Its an SOS situation.

Thanks. It feels great to be in touch with this side of me again. And I’ve to say, the theme just blows one away. You have awesome taste.
