Well, to begin with... Dressing up is justified.. I'll tell you why: It's a personal thing. To each his own.. So the key word here is 'Individuality'. The prblem with Chandigarh is that it's a rutt...
The author has correctly mentioned the vast and varied examples too... The honey-bee looking sunglasses, etc.
Plus, the numerous rubber black bangles, sad looking ID shoes (everybody wore them in 17), red puma shoes, GOLDEN Adidas boots, fur boots, straightened hair, weird coloured eyeliners and shit..
But C'mon guys! This takes a lot fo effort too! *muffled laughter*

No offenses to any chandigarh-ites/ians...

That's what. Chandigarh is no different Varun. It's no different. You go to Sector-8, don't you?? What do you see? Guys who are more decked up and conscious about themselves than girls. Girls, with the same witch-like straight hair. It's like they're all clones. There's no individuality. They look all the same. I step out of my house and I invite dirty stares from everyone because I don't "dress up" and go out. People look at me like I'm some alien. It's not as if everyone's like that but the majority is this way and I don't think anybody can deny this. 15 minutes in sector 17 and you'll realize that all girls and guys have the same shoes, the same hair. They have that fake attitude to show as if they just landed form heaven. The fake english accent... everything is made-up. Chandigarh is now a city of wannabes.

If you think Chandigarh is so bad , wait till you see what’s going on in the West . It’s obnoxious when it’s done 24*7 . People are so obsessed with it that they’ll think nothing of spending a few grand and countless hours to get that ‘ I don’t care ‘ look ….:-)

As for the cheap sunglasses ,my aviators look great ! It’s better to indulge in vanity cheaply ….:-D

There is an extra urge in the citizens of Chandigarh to look "good" when they step out of their houses and I've tried hard enough but still can't find the reason for this behaviour. The straight hair, ballerina slippers, huge shiny bags, guys wearing cheap sunglasses.... just to look good. People here do nothing but show off. Guys show off their cars, their girl friends... girls flaunt their style, their connections and contacts. It's OK and acceptable but when you see it happening around you 24x7 you start feeling out of place. What the people don't realize is that they are so absorbed in their own little decked-up world that they fail to see a world beyond Chandigarh. I think I'll have to write a complete post about how I'm starting to hate Chandigarh now.

You poured your feelings on simplicity of life which is long lost in mad rush,my soul dwells on simplicity too.People often brandish their sham selves shunning their true nature.
"Once upon a time, they used to laugh with their hearts and laugh with their eyes;but now they only laugh with their teeth, while their ice-block-cold eyes search behind my shadow."---Gabriel Okara.
I believe beauty of style, harmony and grace depend upon simplicity. It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones. The happiest heart that ever beat was that found the common daylight sweet, and left rest to heaven.
