In or Out…

I am a novice when it comes to relationships. But, I often wonder what love is all about. Are we just in love with the idea of love ? I have seen people fall in love or should I say ‘dive’ into it. I hear people ask the question – how one can fall in love without knowing the person first. Well, it isn’t ‘falling in’ if you measure up the person first and then decide if you are in love or not. Then, you’re just matching compatibilities. There are friends who find their soul mates in one another and start a relationship. Again, that is more like discovering each other. So, can people actually fall in love over time ? I don’t think so. I feel that two people can discover that they enjoy each others’ company so much that they’d like to live together forever.

Falling in love for me means when you see the person for the very first time, your eyes meet for an instant and you know everything about that person. It’s like you’ve spent an entire lifetime with that person. I know it’s a cliche but it happens. I don’t think people take time to fall in love, they take time to fall out of love.

It’s like this – You just can’t choose the person to fall in love with. It’ll happen even before you know it. That’s why they call it ‘Falling in’…

I don’t know how people fall in love. But I’ll share what I know about love.

One, you can fall in love more than once. Yes, you can. You just have to open your heart and have faith.

Two, its inexpressible. You feel so much… You sit to write… You want to say it…. Words fail you. When that happens to you, you’re in love. :)

Three: Its unreasonable. You can not pen down the logic behind the smile tugging at the corners of your mouth… or why does your heart beat faster at the sight of a random person.. Infatuatuion, love…. Inexplicable.

Just as you cannot decide who you’re born to, you cannot decide who you’ll fall for. You might fall in love once only to discover it was a mere infatuation. You might fall in love again and get betrayed. You might never find love at all.

    Be patient… keep vigilant. ;-)
You might not be able to decide who will enter your life but you must have some amount of common sense and preparedness to analyze, recongnize and finally seal the deal because you might find it, you might fall in… but you just let go because you could not hold on.

Love is a weird thing, it causes your heart to bloom, and then your first heartache. Being in love is one experience where one learns maximum. Both about oneself as well as life. Its not as rosy as it seems, yet the most beautiful thing. It makes you glow when there is no sun or shine.

You fall in love over a long period of time, actually ‘longer’ than you think you would. And if it has to be any way, it rather be that. It is trying that one ‘more’ time when you want to give up totally. If you can carry on for that last time, yes, you are in love then!

In the lands of the Pashtuns, there is an old saying –

It is quite ironic that this age old Pashtun saying be used to describe their present nemesis – United States of America. But, such are the [...]
