It’s no surprise that Internet is riddled with porn. People are absolutely in anything and everything. But we are just starting to see its effect now that the entire generation has grown up online. Pretty, big, fat, pregnant, hairy, young, middle aged… doesn’t matter they are all there. Online porn is ruining marriages. Sex addiction is rampant. The Internet is the crap cocaine of sex addiction. Young kids are becoming connoisseurs of hard-core and deeply kinky acts are now mainstream.
In our Dad’s days, pornography was girly magazine, adult stores, racy novels and the x-rated movie theaters. Quaint by today’s standard and pretty much under the control of the local censor. Dad might not even recognize what pornography has become – “A hard core world without limits, available at the click of a mouse”. Millions of mostly men spending billions of dollars a year on sexually explicit Internet material. It is out of control, literally. The Internet is largely beyond the reach of politicians, parents and law enforcements. We are reaping all the benefits that Internet is capable of giving but we have to yet begin to come to grip the ever-growing pornography. Children are growing up on the Internet, discovering and consuming porn at an alarming rate. It is really going to hurt future generations, as it’s not only difficult but almost impossible to get out of this porn addiction. It is going to be an epidemic or in fact it is already an epidemic.
It’s the world’s biggest Internet business. If we combine the whole income from professional sports and live music companies, it falls short. The porn industry calls in more, an estimated $10 billion a year, much of it from WWW. 11000 movies are produced every year, three times as many as Bollywood and Hollywood movies combined. In essence, the business is huge and is replicating like anything.
The straight question that comes to mind is- Who is going to stop them?
You think the “Great Firewall of China” could stop it – The originators of proxy servers.
So the answer is, forget about it. The Genie is out of the bottle. I don’t think we can put it back. We are bound to live with it. Wonder if the web has gone too far. It may be too late to ask.
