They had the same father. The difference between them is that while one of them thought – I am this way because my father was the same and this is the life I have always seen; the other son thought – I would never hurt my wife and kids. I’d never be a monster like my father.

We try… We ignore.. We hurt.. but somewhere in the midst of it, I wonder how it would be if we were all nice.. And I always hesitate at the thought of using someone, and trampling over their feelings.

For the ‘actual’ talisman, I always had mixed feelings for it. That would it really apply, ever, to situations I’d be in. C’mon now how the hell would the poorest man be affected by my life. But then I thought, it was prime to Gandhi ji’s idea of survival. And then I thought about my prime idea or most defining attribute. And substituted his concept of ‘our actions affecting the poorest, most miserable man’ with my idea. And things made perfect sense.

And if your main idea is about making ends meet anyhow or living life to the fullest, be it then.

By the way, Gandhi’s Talisman used to be there in Hindi as well. It ended with something like “… and you will find your self melting away…”
